I am broadly interested in biogeography and evolution, particularly in the mechanisms that allow plants to survive in diverse environments. I am especially curious about how anatomical and morphological traits shape species distributions, specifically emphasizing characteristics of wood anatomy. Wood is one of the most culturally and economically significant traits produced by plants. I aim to explore more about the role of woodiness within primarily herbaceous lineages, its potential adaptive significance, and how woodiness correlates with where species occur.
